LMTCC Torrevieja C.C v alicante stars on Sat 29 Jul 2017 at 2.00
LMTCC Won by 4 wickets with 10 men

Match report After a very disappointed first game earlier in the day the toss was retaken for the second game and Alicante stars won the toss and decided to bat first. Straight away with the soil drying up under the mat the bounce was becoming abit more true and made a difference. A.Mcdowell kept the bowling tight with catches being dropped at fine leg, a skyer by the kepper and a slow dolly back to himself. the breakthrough was taken when C.Wood finally started bowling okay and bowled out opener lali. 22/1 at 4th over. Changing the bowlers round K.Wood brought on the Danger man N.Harris to the batsmen and what a result it was when the first ball he bowled slipped through the defences and bowled out husnain, then a few balls later got asif to sky one to deep cow corner where P.Michael took an amazing 1 handed catch, Arguments arose when the square leg umpire (team member from the opposite team) walked over and called for it to be a 6, after a heated convocation the LEAGUE umpire rose the finger and the batsmen left the field, a double wicket maiden for N.Harris in his first game back since injury. his next over saw another wicket maiden come when ashan couldn't keep a straight one out and Torre had Alicante stars 27/4 by the 10th over and N.Harris on figures of 3/0 of 2 overs. But after that there was another big setback when G.Shelton came on to bowl at Nadeem and saw said batsmen come walking out the crease miss the ball and K.Wood to whip the bails off quickly leaving the batsmen miles out the crease, Torre started celebrating only to see the batsmen not walking and the square leg umpire (the same square leg umpire from Alicante star) not give it out...completely stunned Torre could not believe the unfair play and how the spirit of the game was tossed out the window. The partnership went on for 7 overs contributing another 70 runs before C.Wood and R.Singh finished off the innings taking another couple wickets at the end. Nadeem finished 44 not out, after not being out stumped on 15(ish)... Pushing Alicante to 188/6 of their allocated overs..

Torre went to the interval quiet annoyied of the innings but were positive with the bowling and fielding performance on a wicket that had improved dramatically from the first game....

K.Wood entered the middle with D.Reid and with Alicante seeing the Torre spin bowlers taking wickets they decided to open with 2 spin bowlers too, K.Wood and D.Reid pushed the team to 26 of 4 overs before Husnain bowled K.Wood with one of the deadly "lower Bounce" balls for an aggressive 16. R.Singh came and went after chipping a ball back to the bowler and then entered the attacker H.Muller, and seemed abit happier about the bounce of the wicket this time and went smashing balls here there and everywhere, D.Reid was also bowled to Lower ball, 35/3 of 6 overs. P.Michael returned to his original batting position at 5 and helped H.Muller pushed the boundaries around the park. Getting the score to 89 H.Muller was bowled when a ball sat up nicely for another boundary but slower than expected for a smashing 49!!!!! 30 to win of 6 overs was the equation with the 2 Pauls in to bat and carried on pushing boundaries here and there and well run singles too, Another Argument Arose when P.Michael hit a ball over the fielder at Deep Mid-wicket for 6 only to have the whole of the Alicante team surround the umpire convincing him it was a 4, with arguments and raised voices going round the Umpire kept his calm and maintained his decision and the game carried on with 2 players on the report card. The score carried on ticking until P.Harvey┬┤s eyes lit up when another ball sat up nicely but also done him for speed when it slowed up and bowled him, N.Harris came in confident from his bowling performance.

Needing 7 to win from 12 balls. P.Michael hit a 4 over mid-off, cut away a single to gully. Then, N.Harris on strike plays his legendary leg slip slap down to third man for 4!!!!!

A great and much needed win for Torrevieja even after some major cheating and confrontations. 1 win and 1 loss in the 20/20 league with the other 2 games against La manga at the end of August.
